Inspiration is a big part of my everyday life. Without inspiration, there’s no creativity and without creativity, there’s no art. I find my inspiration through life’s little events, music and people. People are a big part of my inspiration. I’m usually very inspired after I have a client viewing in my studio. People get really excited when they see my art and ask all kinds of questions about my process, the material I use and everything else about my life. Those great conversations will typically inspire my next creation.
My great friend and photographer Doug Hanson started a new personal project called Inspired:: raw. I thought the idea behind this project was very unique and very inline with my way of thinking. The photo project invites each of us to look within our own communities, our families, our friends, our neighbourhoods for inspiration and asks us to do something with it, to make your own contributions to this place we live in and to the people that surround you. I was the first nomination for this project. What an honor. I’m very grateful and thankful that I can inspire other people with my art and with everything I do. It’s such an amazing feeling. Someone who has made it is someone who has a life built around his passion and everyday he can wake up doing what he loves and generate a profit doing it. Today I can say that I've made it!
